SDO and GINet: United to End Genocide

We received this good news from Save darfur and Genocide Intervention Net today

Dear Friends,

As you know, Save Darfur Coalition and Genocide Intervention merged several months ago to create a more powerful organization dedicated to preventing and ending genocide and mass atrocities worldwide. Today, we have a new name to reflect our expanded mission: we are now United to End Genocide.
We’ve created a short video to help tell our story – please take a look!

The Save Darfur Coalition and Genocide Intervention Network were at the forefront of the historic movement to demand an end to genocide in Darfur. For the first time, elected leaders took action to stop genocide — because millions of people took a stand and spoke out in one voice, demanding action.
We have become United to End Genocide because the power of our shared voice and action is needed now more than ever. Too many people in Darfur – and now in Abyei, South Kordofan and Blue Nile State – are still suffering at the hands of Omar al-Bashir, Sudan's president and architect of the Darfur genocide. And too many people everywhere — in Libya and Syria, in the Cote d’Ivoire and Burma — need to know that the United States and other nations will act to stop atrocities and prevent genocide.

In the next decade, our challenge is to create a permanent voice – a sustainable movement – of grassroots leaders and activists, students and genocide survivors, faith leaders and policy experts that can change the way our country and others prioritize and act on our responsibility to protect anyone, anywhere, who is threatened by genocide or mass atrocities.

This is an exciting moment in our evolution. Thank you for your ongoing interest and support of our mission to end genocide and to protect civilians anywhere mass atrocities take place.

Best regards,

Tom Andrews
President, United to End Genocide

P.S. I hope to see many of you October 22-23 at our Summit in Washington, D.C.
